YouTube is Heaven.

It's 1:45 in the morning and I'm wasting away more of my life fiddling around with YouTube. What an absolute piece of gold this is. It's not like I'm just discovering, but its endless bounds never cease to amaze me. I just spent the last half our or better watching Tom Petty and Tevin Campbell videos. Strange mix, I know. But where else are you going to get that? Sure isn't MTV. MTV needs to follow ESPN's lead and create MTV Classic, where they show nothing but old videos and old shows and whatnot. Who wouldn't sit down for an hour block of Beavis and Butthead followed by some Remote Control and a half hour of 80s rock videos? MTV Classic would probably shoot right up to the top of my viewing list, right up there with the ESPNs, Court TV, BET and Comedy Central.

Another thing that I just thought about ... I wonder if guys like Tevin Campbell are also sitting up at this time of night playing around with YouTube and watching videos of themselves from a dozen years ago, thinking "man ... I used to have fame, fortune, and a horrible sense of style. What went wrong?" It's probably somewhat depressing to have been a big star a decade ago when you were young, then you reach adulthood and your peak has long since passed and you basically just sit around all day wondering where it all went. And it's bad enough as it is, but at least you're not an epic one-hit wonder flameout that is still so popular for being so bad and unpopular. You're just one of those lost in the shuffle, and you're not constantly seeing yourself on TV. Then BAM! you discover YouTube, curiosity gets to you and you find all of your old stuff. "Man ... I was on top of the world ... now ... I'm on YouTube."

It's stuff like that that could lead a man to alcoholism and/or suicide.

And there you have my random Deep Thoughts. Back to YouTube ... hopefully I can find some Spin Doctors and Tony! Toni! Tone!
