Ran across this over on the great JBar Cycling blog the other day.

Arkansas is one of two states in the U.S. that has equitable bicycle laws. Check out the website here with a few different maps.

Now, it’s true, as JBar says on his blog that most bicycle-related laws are dated. But, it’s always good to see that Arkansas is doing something right, whether it really meant to or not.

If you don’t want to click over to see all the different maps, let me recap for you, Arkansas: has no law saying cyclists have to stay far to the right; no mandatory bike lane laws; no mandatory shoulder-use laws; no mandatory side-path laws; no two-abreast laws; and Arkansas impeding traffic laws apply only to motor vehicles.

So, there you have it. Go ride and enjoy all the rights you’ve got here in the Natural State. But, please, don’t act dumb and make people hate cyclists.
